Emergency numbers in Indonesia and Bali

Indonesia's general emergency number is 112. It also has a line per service: police 110, ambulance 119 and fire 113. Bali is part of Indonesia, so the numbers are the same there.

The numbers to save in Indonesia and Bali

Tourist police: none listed. We have not found a tourist police line for Indonesia on an official page.

The Government of Canada's travel advice for Indonesia lists the same police number (read on October 29, 2026).

Which number to call in Indonesia

Indonesia has a general number and separate lines for each service. Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism lists the service lines on its staying safe page; save them all.

  • Any emergency, or you are not sure: 112. The general number. The Ministry of Tourism lists it next to the police line, reachable from mobile phones.
  • Someone is hurt or seriously ill: 119. 119 is the Ministry of Health's national number for medical emergencies and it is free to call. The Ministry of Health says calls go to a national command centre, which passes them to the local public safety centre and its ambulance team. The Ministry of Tourism lists a second ambulance number as well; 119 is the one we hold.
  • You are in danger or a crime is happening: police 110. The Government of Canada's advice for Indonesia gives the same number for the police.
  • Fire: 113.

Bali emergency number

Bali is a province of Indonesia, so dial the same numbers in Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, Uluwatu or Denpasar: 112 for any emergency, police 110, ambulance 119 and fire 113. The same goes for Lombok, the Gili islands, Java and Komodo.

Tourist police: we have not found a tourist police hotline for Indonesia or Bali on an official government page, so we do not list one. Numbers for Bali tourist police posts circulate on travel sites, and they do not agree with each other. For a crime, call the police on 110 or 112.

What to say when you call

  1. The emergency, in one line: "a woman is hurt after a scooter crash", "my friend has collapsed after drinking", "there is a fire".
  2. Where you are: the village or area (Canggu, Kuta, Ubud), the street, and the name of your villa, guesthouse or hotel. Many villas sit down small lanes, so keep a saved map pin you can share.
  3. How to reach you: your phone number, and keep the phone on.

The Government of Canada notes that most medical staff in Indonesia do not speak English or French, so ask your host, reception or a neighbour to speak for you if you can.

After the call: hospitals and the risks to know

Canada's advice describes health care in Indonesia as inadequate and says you may have to pay in advance, in cash, before you are treated. Buy insurance that covers hospital stays and medical evacuation, and keep some cash for an emergency.

Two warnings from the same advice matter most in Bali. Motorcycle and scooter accidents are the main cause of death and serious injury among foreigners in many parts of Indonesia, Bali included. And methanol poisoning from counterfeit alcohol has happened at hotels, bars and shops in tourist areas like Bali, so avoid lesser known brands and alcohol sold by individuals. If someone feels very unwell after drinking, call 119 rather than waiting for it to pass.

For a lost passport, an arrest or a hospital stay, also contact your embassy. Some countries have no office in Bali and work through another country's consulate there, so check yours before you go.

Send these numbers to your people if you miss a check-in

Arm it is the free check-in in the HelloMates app. Before a night out, a late ride or a day trip, set a check-in hour on Bali's clock and tick the people at home who should hear from you. Check in on time and nothing is sent. Miss it, and they get a prepared message with your last known location and these same Indonesia numbers, read from the same tables as this page.

Arm it does not contact the police, an ambulance or any emergency service, and it sends nobody to you. It delivers your message to the people you chose. If you are in danger, call the number above yourself. See how Arm it works.
