Arm it terms
The check-in feature in HelloMates, by Yiriba LLC. Last updated: 2026-09-22. These terms are part of the Terms of Service.
If you are in danger now, call the local emergency number. Arm it is not an emergency service and nobody is watching your timer. It sends a message you wrote to people you chose. That is all it does.
1. What Arm it is
Arm it is a check-in timer. You pick a check-in hour and the people to tell. If you do not check in by that hour, and do not answer the reminder within the grace period, HelloMates sends those people the message you prepared. The message can include your last known location, the local emergency numbers for the country you are in, steps for freezing your cards, and a link to Apple's Find My.
2. What Arm it is not
- It does not call the police, an ambulance, a dispatcher or anyone else.
- It does not freeze your cards, lock your phone or find your phone. The card-freeze steps and the Find My link are instructions your contact opens with your bank and with Apple.
- It does not send anyone to you or share your location with anyone but the people you chose. It checks your location in the background using the phone's low-power updates, so they get your last position if you miss a check-in; turn that off any time in Settings.
- It is not a replacement for emergency services, travel insurance, a travel companion, or telling someone where you are going.
3. No guarantee of delivery
A message can fail to arrive. That depends on your phone, your battery, your signal, your contact's phone and carrier, and the SMS, email and push services in between, none of which we control. We retry, and we try a second channel when the first fails, but we cannot promise that any message is sent, delivered, read or acted on, or that it arrives at a particular time. Do not make Arm it your only safety measure.
4. What you agree to do
- Keep your contacts correct and current, and carry a phone that works where you are.
- Tell each contact that you added them, what the message looks like and what you would like them to do. A contact can stop these messages by replying STOP to the text, using the "stop these messages" link in the email, or writing to us; we keep that number or address on a stop list, and we tell you that the contact cannot be reached so you can choose someone else.
- Set honest check-in times. Check in, or extend the timer, when you are fine, so nobody is alarmed for nothing.
- Only add people who agreed to it. Never use Arm it, or the Home role, to follow or monitor another person.
5. Liability and indemnity
As far as the law allows, Yiriba LLC's total liability for anything to do with Arm it, including our own negligence, is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and USD 100. You agree to cover us against claims that come from your misuse of Arm it, for example adding a contact who did not agree, or using it to track someone. The disclaimers, limitation of liability and indemnity in the Terms of Service also apply.
6. Your data
Your location fixes for Arm it (the low-power background updates, and the position the app had when you armed) are kept for 30 days, then deleted; turning "Share location for Arm it" off in Settings keeps only the spot where you turned it off, for the same 30 days. Your contacts and your note are stored encrypted at rest and you can delete them at any time. Nothing about Arm it is shown to other users of HelloMates. Your contact's phone number or email is used for one purpose only: delivering your message. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
7. Home
A parent, partner or friend can follow your check-ins in the Home role, but only through an invite you create. They always see, for free, whether you checked in, whether a timer is armed, when it is due and when you last checked in. With HelloMates Family they also see your last known location during an active or fired timer, your flight, the city's emergency numbers and your last ten timers. Location is never inside a notification. You can remove a Home contact at any time, and they can leave at any time.
8. Misuse
Arm it contacts are people you trust at home; the feature is never pointed at strangers nearby. Using Arm it or Home to stalk, pressure or control another person, including pressuring someone into sharing a Home invite, is a serious breach. It leads to a ban after a human review, and we may report it to the authorities.
